2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
We collect information you voluntarily give us, which may include:
- Contact information — such as your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number.
- Account information — such as a username and password, if you create an account.
- Purchase and billing information — such as billing address and order details, if you buy a course, membership, or product. Payment card details are collected and processed directly by our third-party payment processor and are not stored on our servers.
- Communications — the content of emails, contact form submissions, support requests, and any other messages you send us.
- Course and community content — assignments, comments, forum posts, or other material you submit through the Site.
- Other information you choose to share — such as responses to surveys or feedback forms.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, our web servers and hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used for security, troubleshooting, and understanding general Site usage. We do not use it to build a profile of you or to identify you personally.
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, precise geolocation, biometric data, or health information. Please do not send this type of information to us.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We do not currently use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or similar tracking technologies on the Site, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
We may choose to use cookies or similar technologies in the future — for example, to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, or understand how the Site is used. If we do, we will update this Privacy Policy, revise the “Last Updated” date above, and provide notice on the Site before or at the time the change takes effect. Where required by law, we will also obtain your consent.
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because we do not currently track users across websites, we do not respond to these signals at this time.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Site and our courses and services;
- Process and fulfill orders, enrollments, and payments;
- Respond to your questions, comments, and support requests;
- Send you course materials, account notices, and other administrative communications;
- Send you newsletters or promotional messages, if you have asked to receive them (you may unsubscribe at any time);
- Improve our content, curriculum, and Site functionality;
- Protect the security and integrity of the Site, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We also do not share your personal information with third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers. We work with vendors who perform services on our behalf — such as website hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and course platform hosting. These providers may access personal information only as needed to perform their functions for us, and are expected to protect it and not use it for unrelated purposes.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety or the safety of others, or to investigate fraud or respond to a government request.
- Business transfers. If Root and Leaf, LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer and any resulting changes to this Privacy Policy.
- With your direction. We may share information at your request or with your consent.
6. Children’s Privacy and Use by Minors
Homeschool Herbal Academy creates educational materials for homeschooling families, and we recognize that young people may use our Site.
Minors may use the Site only with the supervision and permission of a parent or legal guardian. We ask that a parent or guardian create any account, make any purchase, and submit any personal information on a minor’s behalf.
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent, as required by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@homeschoolherbalacademy.com and we will take steps to delete that information promptly.
Parents and guardians may contact us at the email address above to review the personal information we hold about their child, request that it be deleted, or refuse to allow further collection or use of it.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures designed to protect personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping any account password confidential.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide our services, maintain your account or enrollment, comply with our legal and tax obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take steps to delete it or render it unidentifiable.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You may:
- Access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@homeschoolherbalacademy.com;
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails by clicking the unsubscribe link in any such email or by contacting us (we may still send you transactional messages about your account or purchases); and
- Close your account by contacting us.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws — such as the right to know what personal information we have collected, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. As stated above, we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To make a request, email us at info@homeschoolherbalacademy.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization.
10. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, resources, or vendors that we do not control. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit through a link from ours.
11. Users Outside the United States
Our Site is operated in the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements — including if we begin using cookies. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide more prominent notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after an update takes effect means you accept the revised policy.
